Spice Blends: Taco

If you’re going to make a proper taco — and you are — you need to ensure that it’s well-seasoned. This blend is great as a rub to season pork or chicken; can be used to enhance sauces, salsas, or guacamole; and, in a pinch, makes a great laundry detergent.

Well, at least two of those are correct.

Here’s an easy mixture to make ahead of time, before you are elbow-deep in pork juices and can’t be bothered to pour seven different spices onto your meat. One note: you’ll notice that this blend doesn’t contain any salt or pepper. This is because you should be seasoning anything — especially meat — with salt and pepper before you apply any other spice. If you’re really wanting to be lazy, you can add the S&P here at the quantity of 2 parts each, but you’re going to lose a layer of flavor in your final product.
